Frontdoor, Inc. Partners with BlueRecruit to Launch Trade School Scholarship Program

In January 2025, Frontdoor, Inc., a leading provider of home service plans, announced a strategic partnership with BlueRecruit to launch a trade school scholarship program. This initiative is designed to support students pursuing careers in the skilled trades and to mitigate the growing shortage of qualified professionals in fields such as plumbing, electrical work, and HVAC services.

The scholarship program is open to students across the United States who are enrolled in accredited trade schools. Applicants are required to demonstrate their commitment to the industry through trade school enrollment, a recommendation letter, and a video essay. Recipients will be selected based on their dedication to the skilled trades and their potential to contribute meaningfully to the workforce.

Evan Iverson, Chief Operating Officer of Frontdoor, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “Our hope is that this scholarship program will help to bridge the growing skilled trades labor gap by supporting the hard-working students that aspire to be the next generation of skilled tradespeople.”

The skilled trades sector in the United States is facing a significant labor shortage, exacerbated by an aging workforce and a decline in new entrants into these professions. Factors contributing to this shortage include the retirement of experienced workers, societal stigmas surrounding trade careers, and a lack of exposure to vocational training in educational institutions.

By investing in the education and development of future tradespeople, Frontdoor and BlueRecruit aim to strengthen the pipeline of skilled professionals and ensure the continued provision of essential services in homes and businesses nationwide.
